Youth on Mission – June 23
FIRST BAPTIST
SCORE + Youth on a Mission
Monday was a great day of both fun and ministry. I know that my students and sponsors not only enjoyed the tract distribution, but it stretched their faith and gave them an opportunity to share God’s Word! The VBS day was a blessing, and I know that God used those children to teach us about being joyful in the Lord! It was also exciting to be able to see what the future holds for these great ministries. Even praying and reading the Scripture in Costa Rica has an enormous impact on my group. I look forward to the rest of the week because I know God will keep moving and lives will be changed.
Sunday- Coastal Community Church-
What an amazing day. We were blessed so much by the church service we attended. My kids could not stop talking about how they love to worship in another language. Score did a phenomenal job interpreting and making up feel at home. Later in the afternoon we had a chance to experience Costa Rican culture. We went to local market and attempted to get deals on souvenirs. We are excited about serving tomorrow.
Monday- Coastal Community Church
Monday was an incredible eye opener. We went downtown Costa Rica to pass out tracts. We met many people who were eager to learn about Christ. I had the opportunity to speak with a man who leg needed to be amputated. He needed eleven dollars for the surgery and my youth helped him with the bill. After he received the money he began to cry and we prayed and praised God with this man. That afternoon we went to a school and performed a VBS. It was so much fun playing and teaching the kids. One of the girls in my youth group shared the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. With the story we had a drama, art and crafts, games and songs. Although I got beat up by the kids hopefully Christ’s love was shown. Score did an amazing job organizing these activities.
Tuesday Kaitlyn Bryant- Coastal Community Church-
Today was an incredible experience. Going to the hole was heartbreaking, emotional and hard to see how so many individuals live. It was one of the best personal wake up calls that I could have. I get so caught up in my own world with my own little struggles and I forget how blessed I am and I forget why I am on this earth: to serve and honor Jesus Christ our Savior. So thank you so much for the amazing experience. This day will always be in my heart.

Passing out tracts was an amazing experience. It took us out of our comfort zone and I am grateful for that. The students stepped out in a major way and I am thankful for that opportunity. We were able to pass out 4000 tracts in about 1.5 hours and it felt like ten minutes. The students really enjoyed playing with the children. Thank you for a wonderful and life changing day.

Today was another good day. We went zip lining this morning at Fossil Park. We got to on five zip lines. They also made up hike up to the top of the mountain. It was an amazing experience to see God’s amazing creation. We are so blessed to be able to experience this in Costa Rica. After that we went to lunch at Fresas. It was delicious. Lastly we went to the hole to distribute food. We met four families there. They had such a great amount of hope and love and appreciation for Jesus Christ. The pastor challenged us to find hope in Christ instead of materialistic items. We hope to return there again this week.
The hole was extremely eye opening experience. I have seen situations like it on TV but being placed in the middle of it is a whole different story. It broke my heart to see the living conditions these people lived in. The happiness and faith in God these people showed was absolutely amazing. The hole really showed me how selfish I am as a person. I have so much but I always want more, while these people have so little and yet are so happy. The hole without a doubt impacted my life a ton.
