Tri-State Baseball - Friday

Tri-State Baseball finished off a great week in the Dominican Republic on Friday. We played our final two games of the week to finish with a record of 4-3. The first game finished with an 8-7 loss and the second game with a 6-1 victory. The biggest wins of the day came when 16 more people accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. There were nine people make commitments of faith after the first game and seven more after our final game. It was really amazing to play a small part in bringing the message to the Dominican Republic. Through the efforts of these players, 34 people’s names have been written in the Book of Life.

Obviously the main purpose of this trip was to reach the people of the Dominican Republic by using the game of baseball. These players did an excellent job of that. Another reason for this trip was to see the growth of these individual players throughout the week. My hope for these players is that they come back to the United States with a renewed heart for Jesus. One of the challenges I laid out for them on the final night was that they simply be obedient to what God asks them to do.

We listened to the Casting Crowns song entitled “The Altar and the Door” on the final night. My prayer is that they don’t lose their passion as they go back to their respective places when we get back to the U.S. These guys have an awesome opportunity to share about this trip and witness to many people in their daily walks. It’s amazing what could happen if each of them would do this. The world would be changed dramatically.

In the games yesterday, Logan Blackwelder pitched the entire first game. Only two of the eight runs scored were earned runs. Ben Woodhouse was 2-for-3 in the game. Buddy Robinson had a double. Jason Foley picked up his second win on the mound in the final game of the week. Foley allowed only one in the final inning in the complete game victory. He struck out five and only walked one batter. Andy Timmons was 3-for-3 in the game for Tri-State. Foley was 2-for-3. Josh Carroll and Buddy Robinson each had a double in the game.
