Tonawanda Indian Baptist Church - Tuesday
Today’s word: Exhausting. That’s the best way to describe the happenings of our group today. Like every other day, we got up “bright & early” to prepare for the day. Today’s assignment: Repair & rebuild a bathhouse for a 19 year old Christian boy in one of the sugarcane villages. Pastor John, Jeff, & Andres headed out ahead of the group to the town of San Pedro to pick-up some lumber & supplies, then met the rest of the group at the village. Throughout the day, the girls spent time playing games with the boys & girls of the village while the guys laid cement blocks & measured lumber to build a frame & roof for the bathhouse. The project took the entire day to complete (not counting lunch break)…by the end of the day, the guys were physically worn out from spending the entire day in the blistering sun. It’s safe to say that the girls were pretty rundown too…especially after spending almost seven hours trying to entertain 20-30 of the most adorable (& rambunctious) children you’ve ever seen in your entire life.
We returned to the Complex with a sense of accomplishment, knowing that we were able to reach out & practically show Jesus to the people of this village. We look forward to what God has in store for us as we continue to serve Him here in the DR.
P.S., Did we mention today was exhausting? So exhausting that we had to keep today’s report brief to keep from passing out! (Thank God we rely on HIS strength & not our own!)
