The Chapel Medical Group - Tuesday
What an awesome day God gave us today! Most of us went to Santo Domingo. Jim and I sat in the front seat of the “le autobus” today so we could fully experience the traffic. The scariest part of the trip is crossing the road in front of the mission as vehicles fly by VERY fast, sometimes in the wrong direction! We started out with a stop at the Straw Market, then on to the 14th century Castle of Christopher Columbus’ son. Jeff was our expert tour guide. We gave out tracts and spoke with lots of people along the way. Among them was a shoe shine boy who prayed with us and we gave him a Bible to read. On to Jackie’s House, an orphanage for children of prostitutes, where we all so moved by the 40-some beautiful children there! We sang with them and loved on them in Jesus’ name. There were many tears as we prayed over the children and then as they blessed us with their own prayer and we hugged them and said good-bye. Our hearts are full as we see the work that God is doing in this country. Six of our group stayed here today and did a great job building church pews, then had a fun experience walking to a local hardware store to buy a rusty can of paint, but the benches look great and we look forward to delivering them to the church in Los Montones when we have clinic there on Friday. Tonight we learned more about the church-planting ministry here. To date there are 75 young men and women who have commited to studying the Bible for 3 hours every Sunday afternoon for one year with Pastor Aby, to be prepared for leadership positions in the local churches. What a blessing to share stories together tonight of what God has done. We have been changed today! Now off to bed to get some rest for our largest medical clinic tomorrow! All of the missing medicine has now been located! THANK YOU for your prayers. God is good!
