Casa De Luz - today we drove about 30 minutes to an orphanage for handicapped children. Casa De Luz - hoy llevó unos 30 minutos a un orfanato para niños discapacitados. Once there we split into teams. Una vez allí nos dividimos en equipos.

In addition, we were able to spend some time with the 20 kids who live here by helping to feed them their lunch. One of the many projects we are working on at Casa de Luz is a wall that goes around their prayer garden. We were told to lay the foundation in a certain area and start building up from there. Se nos dijo a sentar las bases en una determinada zona y empezar a construir desde allí. After three hours, we were feeling good; we had the foundation finished and were ready to start building the wall. Now we have always been told that a shaky foundation is not good, but for the record, a foundation placed in the wrong spot is way worse. That’s right, we were informed there was a change in plans and the wall needed to go five feet back from where we had laid the foundation. I’m not going to lie, we were pretty upset and had a five minute gripe session, but after that we realized we could sit and mope or we could keep going and get the wall done. Once we returned to SCORE, most of us went down to the beach to wash off all the sweat, cement, dirt and paint from the day. In addition to the projects mentioned above, a group will paint a mural in one of the rooms and another group will set up a playroom with some special equipment we brought down with us .
