SEAM – June 28
Day 1 – The group passed out tracks in downtown San Jose for the morning. In the afternoon we went to a school to do VBS type activity for their kindergarten class. We did Noah’s Ark and the kids enjoyed dressing up as the animals and marching around the ark. We colored booklets with the children about the bible story we had just presented. They were able to take those booklets home to their parents in hopes of ministering to them as well.
After dinner, we met for devotion discussed what we liked about the day and about what our expectations of the week were.
Day 2 – We went Pastor Reubon’s church in Gaucimo in the morning. We made crosses with the children and allowed them to stick on different symbols. This gave us an opportunity to be with them and communicate and love on them. We did the Noah’s Ark skit with those children and this time even had the workers participate and dress up like the animals. Everyone had a wonderful time. We spent the afternoon with members of his church. We ate with the Pastor and his family and prayed with the Pastor. We left approximately 100 pairs of flip flops for the pastor to distribute, as well as t-shirts and cleats.
Later in the day the Pastor took us to a river to swim and then to a pineapple farm. It was the best pineapple I have ever tasted. –A real treat for our group!
Before bed, we did a group devotion and everyone had many thoughts on the day and the things we had experienced. As usual, we went intending to bless that Pastor’s church and we left feeling more blessed.
Day 3 – We attended Marlo’s church and worshipped with them. Then we ate pizza at a local restaurant. We returned to the villa for a quick turnaround. We helped decorate for Michelle and Melissa’s birthday party.
Then we were off to an orphanage with Pastor Hubert. We played soccer with the kids and visited different houses. It was difficult to see their conditions and sad to realize they have no parents. However, we were touched by the love the workers show them and the commitment of Pastor Hubert to minister to them. We left realizing how blessed we are and thankful for our parents and our chidren!
We attended Pastor Hubert’s church and did bible study with them. We returned to the villa for a wonderful dinner. All the meals and accomodations have been perfect. The workers are a blessing to us. We hope we are a blessing to them!
