Mt. Zion Baptist Church – Thursday
Today was our final day of mission work and I think I (Emily) speak for all of us when I say we are both sad and happy to be going home tomorrow! Sad because of all the wonderful people we are leaving behind and because we have seen so much work that we would still love to do. Happy because we are all excited to see our family and friends we miss in the United States.
For our last day all the ladies and men split up to complete separate work projects. This morning us ladies visited the hospital to give out gift bags and share the gospel to many of the women in the maternity ward. It was very surprising for me and many of the other ladies to witness two women sharing just one hospital bed…one laying one way with her newborn baby and the other laying the other way with hers. God was great and three or four women accepted the gospel in the maternity ward. Please keep these new Christian mothers in your prayers.
While the ladies ministered at the hospital the men stayed back at the SCORE Complex to finish constructing the benches for the church, Los Fundos. In total the men built 8 benches that will serve as pews in the church. Later in the afternoon the benches were delivered to the church and the men repaired a porch and screen door for one of the missionary families here.
During the afternoon the ladies traveled back to Los Fundos for a women’s service. Mrs. Kathy did a wonderful job presenting the gospel to the women, young women, and children of this village. During her presentation she asked them if their village could be perfect what would it look like. She used this as a way to explain what heaven would be like and to share her desire that they all accept Christ so that we could see them in heaven one day. After this everyone made a sun catcher craft. All of the women thanked us for all the work we had done in their village (repairs on the well, shoe distribution, pews, and much more) by presenting Mrs. Robyn and our entire group with money they had collected. I don’t recall the amount in pesos, but it worked out to about $60 US dollars. This is a huge amount of money for their village to raise and we were truly grateful. Accepting the money was only polite so we will be giving it back to Nate and Erica, the missionaries we worked with, to use as they see fit.
So many other amazing things happened today, but it is getting really late and we have to leave SCORE tomorrow so I better get some sleep and get packing!! Thanks for reading this and most importantly THANKS FOR ALL YOUR LOVE, SUPPORT, AND PRAYERS!!
God Bless You….Dios Te Bendiga,
Emily and Mt. Zion Baptist Church
