SCORE International has received $20,000 in donations for the first Rapid Response Mission Team to purchase food, water, and medicine for devastated Haitians.
Two days since the earthquake destroyed Haiti’s capital, people are still looking for missing loved ones. Today, President Barack Obama promised Haiti, “you will not be forsaken; you will not be forgotten.” The Army and Marine Corp have dispatched troops for immediate security and aid along with the American Red Cross and other charitable organizations.
SCORE is using its complex in the Dominican Republic, a country that shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, to organize relief efforts. Volunteers are preparing to drive to Haiti with a supply truck.
Immediate needs are food, water, medical supplies, and temporary shelter. Please go online to donate directly to SCORE’s Helping Haitians Rapid Response Effort.
Volunteers who wish to travel with SCORE to Haiti can call 423-894-7111 for more information.
